Helping Brayford Successfully Celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee
HotPrint was looking to assist a local community ensure maximum patronage of their celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee 2022. We wanted to help by producing publicity materials that would present their events in a way that reflected the efforts and investments of villagers; their local village hall and parish council. In the galleries below are a number of designs meeting the brief in varied ways.
Materials needed to create demand, present detailed event information, adhere to the Palace's branding of the Jubilee, and if possible, be something of a "keepsake".
As part of our volunteered sponsorship we offered the following for consideration.

Design 1 • An old look with a modern twist
NB • Event details not accurate/for illustration
About Design 1
The Palace proposed purple and platinum colour palette. Font combination pairs with the Palace’s Perpetua Titling . Design style combes modern and old. Message is clear while presented with a touch of humour. Colours are subdued with consideration to an older audience. Bunting in design communicates national celebration and ties-in with physical event.
Vertical A3 Promo Piece
Designed vertically for impact and to stand-apart from standard landscape pieces produced. Printed full colour, with centre crease and fold. Opens to reveal vertical poster. Rear is heavy with text to provide all essential information. Large text panel can be edited down/removed to add more colour and celebration imagery.
DL Ticket
Printed full colour with micro-perf’ for tear-off.
Design 2 • Union Jack
NB • Event details not accurate/for illustration
About Design 2
A variation on another design made as a standard centre fold leaflet in a newsletter style.
This version made to carry a lot more text. Layout relies heavily on patriotic use of the flag,
which is a little tricky to work with Palace branding. Has a slight 1930s-1950s feel about it
which fits the older demographic of the village, while still being bright and modern.
Using an alternative image as the background on the front or back of this piece
would break-up the repetition and add more visual interest.
Vertical A3 Promo Piece
Concise, easy navigate layout without clutter or spurious graphics.
Gets the point across without fuss but may be a little too dry.
Printed full colour, with centre crease and fold.
DL Ticket
Printed full colour with micro-perf’ for tear-off.
Design 3 • Brayford Celebrates v1
NB • Event details not accurate/for illustration
About Design 3 v1
Adhering to branding released by the Palace, this design comes in 2 flavours.
Version 1 is slightly more reserved and tries to bring red, white and blue into the design, which many will expect to see; this is difficult against clashing purple. To assist with bringing colours together a specific photograph was selected. This picture is both fun and reflective with the Queen smiling at Prince Phillip. Inside, elements have been added as graphic icons for each event.
Version 2 uses the main colour from a fun photograph of the Queen selected to set the tone
for the piece. A play on the famous “stay calm and carry on” message helps keep it light. Less of a priority placed on text in these designs, but information and inspiration are still covered. Top half of the front makes a ‘keeper’.
A3 Promo’ Piece
Designed vertically for impact. Opens to reveal vertical poster. Rear does the heavy lifting with information that is organised by date, colour and with an icon to make it easy to navigate.
Printed full colour, with centre crease and fold.
DL Ticket
Printed full colour with micro-perf’ for tear-off.

About Design 3 v2
Adhering to branding released by the Palace, this design comes in 2 flavours.
This, version 2, uses the main colour from the photograph of the Queen as a compliment to the Palace's purple. The photo sets the tone, being bright and fun. A play on the famous “stay calm and carry on” message helps keep it light. Less of a priority placed on text in the v3 designs, but information and inspiration are still covered. Top half of the front makes a ‘keeper’.
A3 Promo’ Piece

Design 4 • 70 Years
NB • Event details not accurate/for illustration
About Design 4
Re-purposing elements from other designs to produce an A3 leaflet folded to A4 pages.
Design 4 is a variation on design 2, this made into a horizontal leaflet with additional graphic elements and imagery. Graphic title makes a big statement about the Jubilee which should make the promo’ piece more of a commemorative item; a keepsake. Back cover carries information about the event along with
sponsor information and a thank you message.
Horizontal A3 Promo Piece
Inside and back cover are text heavy in order to relay all event details.
Printed full colour, with centre crease and fold.
DL Ticket
Printed full colour with micro-perf’ for tear-off.
Design 5 • Jubilee Weekender

Design 5 • Jubilee Weekender
NB • Event details not accurate/for illustration
About Design 5
Going a bit off-brief and aiming for young families this design is all about party!
Only just adhering to branding released by the Palace, this design goes for the “fun factor” and moves away from the red, white and blue most other events will use. It looks like the circus is coming to town with a big message about a weekend of Jubilee events, bright bold colours and youthful styling. Piece communicates good times, fun and excitement. Appearance easily changed with a different colour palette.
A3 Promo’ Piece
Designed vertically for impact and to stand-apart from standard landscape pieces. Opens to reveal vertical poster. Rear carries all the event details and splashy graphics, organised by date and colour to make it easy to navigate.
Print full colour, with centre crease and fold.
DL Ticket
Designed prior to event details being released, doesn’t suit the dining style; this pitched more to a party-type event. Print full colour with micro-perf’ for tear-off.
